Dear Mike:
Many thanks for disentangling our Marseilles bank account. I
have no immediate plan for doing anything with it, and I trust nothing
bad will happen if it remains inactive for as long as a few years.
As you are no doubt aware, the Centre Mondial has purged its
foreign advisers, and I am one of the unretained. I am not very
surprised, as it wasn't clear to me that the benefits to them were
worth what it cost, except that I still think the library project
was, and I hope still is, a good idea.
Now that I am unlikely to be any help with the politics of
the project, I figure that you can run the technology yourself. However,
I am curious to know whether it has survived and what is its current
state.
Carolyn and I will be in Europe in May, and I hope we will
get a chance to visit Marseilles. At least I hope to, although it
will be hard to pry her out of Paris.
Alain or Colette may have told you that we have a son, Timothy,
born November 9. Since the younger of my two daughters is 25, and
the older has a daughter of her own, this takes me back to my relative
youth in certain, unfortunately superficial, respects.
What are your present telephone numbers, now that the system
has changed?
